Emails in Brightspace can be saved and reopened at a later date by saving the email as a draft. Once Brightspace has been closed out it may be difficult to locate those emails. Below are the steps to find and access draft emails.

Accessing the Draft email folder

  1. Drafts can be located from the Message alerts button, which is the envelope icon at the top right of the screen near your name and account settings. Click the Message alerts button, then click the Email option to access your email inbox.

  1. Along the left side of the screen is the Folder List. If you do not see the Folder List on your screen, it may be set to be hidden in your settings.
    1. Click Settings in the upper right corner of the inbox screen and then check the box for “Show the Folder List pane”, making sure to Save the settings changes after.

  1. Click the “Drafts” folder on the Folder List to access your drafts.
  2. Alternatively, there is a Folder dropdown along the right side below the Settings button. Select “Draft” from this dropdown.

Locating a draft email

  1. Once in the Draft email folder, all drafts saved and not yet sent out should show.
  2. To check or change what you are currently filtering draft emails by, use the dropdown menu below the Compose, Refresh, and Folder Management buttons. Changing this dropdown to the “All Messages” option will show all of your emails still in draft status regardless of where or when they were saved that way.
  3. Click the subject line for the draft you wish to work on to pick up where you left off last. Sending a draft email uses the same steps as a freshly composed one, or you can resave the draft to work on it again at a later date.
