The following article details how to create new Modules and Sub-modules in Content.
Please note that the course layout, steps, and screenshots shown below may differ slightly for your campus.
In Content, Modules and Sub-modules allow you to organize the content items and information displayed to students. Modules are the higher category and always appear as headings or tabs in the left-side 'Table of Contents' menu in Content. In addition, Modules also appear in most Course Homepages as individual squares within the 'Visual TOC' widget.
Common ways of organizing Modules include by subject area (For example: Course Information, Course Readings, Homework, etc.) or by sequential unit (For example: Unit 1, Unit 2, or Week 1, Week 2, etc.)
Sub-modules appear inside of Modules and allow you to organize a larger Module into smaller Sub-modules. As they are subordinate, Sub-modules only appear on the left-side 'Table of Contents' menu when a Module or Sub-module that is located inside is selected. All the usual ways of adding content items or existing activities are accessible in a Sub-module.

You will find your new Sub-module within your main Module. On the left side menu, you will see it located below this main Module title, while you are in that main Module. In this example, New* Module 2 is the Module selected and New* Module 2 Sub-module is the newly created sub-module located below it.

To add new content items into the new Sub-module, click into the Module from the left side menu. Click into the Sub-module. You will notice the Sub-module now has the main heading over the right side area. Add new content using 'Upload/Create'.
