Editing the correct answer of a quiz question does not update the scores for students who have already submitted a quiz attempt. If a quiz question has an incorrect choice designated as the correct answer and students have already submitted attempts, you can update how the the original question was scored. Brightspace allows you to give or remove credit for all attempts of a question and to also give or remove credit for all attempts of a quiz question with a specific answer.

Note: We recommend also editing the quiz question from the Quizzes area to reflect the correct answer for any future attempts.

Give all attempts a specified amount of points

  1. Go to the Quizzes area of your course, click the chevron next to the quiz you want to rescore.

  2. Click Grade from the drop-down menu.

  3. Click the 'Questions' tab.

  4. Select the circle to the left of 'Update all attempts'.

  5.  Click on the question to rescore it.

            a) If you have not yet edited the quiz question to reflect the correct answer, you will find the question as shown in the image below.

         b) If you have already edited the quiz question to reflect the correct answer, you will find the question at the bottom of the screen underneath "Questions that are not in the quiz anymore" as displayed in the image below.

    6. On the 'Update All Attempts' screen, the answer designated as the correct answer at the time the attempts were taken will show with a blue arrow to the left of it. Select the circle to the left of "Give to all attempts ☐ points" and input the amount of points you want to give all attempts for this question. For example, if you want to give all students credit for a question worth one point, input a '1' into the box.

       7.  Click the blue Save button at the bottom of the screen.
