Error Retrieving Credentials on Course Homepage

The following article details the error message: β€œAn embedded page at ... says – error retrieving credentials.”, and how to resolve it.

 

Please note that the course layout, steps, and screenshots shown below may differ slightly for your campus.

Starting on September 26, 2023, users have begun seeing the an error message similar to the message below when accessing one or more of their courses:

Brightspace has advised that this message pop-up was a result of an update to the Visual Table of Contents Widget, and users experiencing the issue have a cached version of that widget.
 

Resolving the Error by Clearing Browser Cache and Cookies

  1. Click the 'OK' button to temporarily clear the message.
     
  2. Clear your browser cache and cookies to clear the error for good.
