Instructors can control what Grade Book information displays for them, and what information displays for their students. This information can take the form of points, weighted points, the grade scheme symbol (often a percentage or letter grade), and grade scheme color.

Note: The settings below control the overall display of grades in the Grade Book. Grade Items and Categories can both be customized individually to change what information is displayed as well.

Customizing Display of Grades for Instructors

Note: The options below only change how you, the instructor, see the Grade Book. To change what your student's see, please refer to the "Customizing what Grade Information is Displayed for Students" section of this article.
  1. Navigate to the Grade Book in your course.

  2. The following information can be displayed to you in the grade book:

    1. "Points grade": This shows the students' raw points scores. (E.g., 9/10 points)

    2. "Weighted grade": This shows the students' points scores after weighting is taken into account. (Note: This option only appears when using a Weighted Total grading system.)

    3. "Grade scheme symbol": This shows your Grade scheme symbol, which is often a percentage or a letter grade. Only one Grade scheme symbol can exist at a time, so you cannot show both a percentage and letter grade.

    4. "Grade scheme color": If enabled, this shows colors associated with your grading scheme. Some campuses have set their grade schemes to have certain scores to correspond to certain colors. (E.g., the student's grade cell will be highlighted green between 81 and 100 percent, yellow between 61 and 80 percent, and red if below 60 percent.)
  3. To turn on or off any of the above options, in the upper right-hand corner of the screen, click on Settings.

  4. You will be taken to the "Personal Display Options" page. Under "Managing View Display Options", you can modify various options involving how your Grade Book displays for you.

  5. Under "Grade Details", check the boxes for any of the grade data you would like to see.  Uncheck any options you would like to turn off.

  6. After making your changes, click Save. After the page refreshes, click Close to return to the Grade Book.
