
Enable Cookies in Browser
Online students and faculty may find that when logging into their courses, the SUNY Online Support Browser Compatibility area alerts them to adjust their browser cookie settings. This must be done to allow account sessions to function correctly. The following browser-specific directions will illustrate how to adjust these settings.
Google Chrome

To add the site, enter the web address.
- To create an exception for an entire domain, insert [*.] before the domain name. For example, [*.]google.com will match drive.google.com and calendar.google.com.
- You can also put an IP address or a web address that doesn’t start with http://.

- If the instructor uses Blackboard Collaborate Ultra in the course, check the “Including third-party cookies on this site.”
- Select Add.
- Close the Settings tab.
- To confirm changes, return to the Blackboard page containing the SUNY Online Browser Compatibility box and click the reload button
that sits to the left of the browser’s URL web address bar.
- If the setting still has not updated, restarting the browser, or device, may be necessary.
Mozilla Firefox

- Click the “Open Application Menu” button (in top right corner of the browser)
and select

is selected, either uncheck Cookies (allows all cookies) or select the setting to only block Cross-site tracking cookies – includes social media cookies.

that sits to the right of the browser’s back button.

Check if site is blocked from setting cookies:

- If the site you are trying to access is listed, click on its entry then

- Close the page and changes will be saved.

Safari
In the Safari app, choose Safari > Preferences > Privacy, then to always allow cookies, deselect “Block all cookies.”

To confirm changes, return to the Blackboard page containing the SUNY Online Browser Compatibility box and click the reload button

Edge

menu (in top right corner of the browser) > Settings
- Under Settings, choose Cookies and site permissions > Manage and delete cookies and site data
- Turn on “Allow sites to save and read cookie data (recommended)” to unblock cookies

Internet Explorer
NOTE: Support for IE 11 is being phased out by Microsoft.
Current versions of Blackboard are no longer supporting IE.
